Transport encryption

Transport encryption refers to the process of encrypting data as it is transmitted over a network. It is used to secure communication between devices and protect the confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of the transmitted data.

There are several different ways to implement transport encryption, including:

  • Using a cryptographic protocol: There are a number of cryptographic protocols that are designed specifically for securing communication over a network. Examples include Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). These protocols establish a secure connection between two devices and use a combination of ciphers (algorithms for encryption and decryption) and other security measures to protect the transmitted data.

  • Using a virtual private network (VPN): A VPN is a private network that is created over a public network (such as the Internet). It uses encryption to protect the transmitted data and can be used to secure communication between devices that are connected to the VPN.

  • Using a secure shell (SSH): SSH is a network protocol that is used to securely connect to a remote computer. It uses encryption to protect the transmitted data and can be used to securely connect to a remote server or other device over a network.

In general, transport encryption is an important security measure that is used to protect communication over a network and ensure that the transmitted data is kept confidential, authenticated, and integrity-protected.
